Most assignments you claim will have student work available immediately.
Occasionally, teachers post their assignments in advance of the start date. In these cases, the assignment won't say "Ready now!" on the assignment board and will instead list a start date. We ask teachers to upload their work by 5pm on the assignment start date.
Schools can be hectic places, and sometimes plans change. We don't adjust the start and due dates on assignments in advance because it's hard to predict when exactly student work will arrive. Teachers do receive email reminders to upload their student work, so you don't usually need to contact them directly, but you can if it will influence your planning.
When student work is uploaded later than midnight on the start date, the due date will be pushed back accordingly. We hope this makes it possible for you to keep the assignment.
If a late start compromises your ability to complete an assignment, even given the same turnaround time, please contact us as soon as possible. Typically, if you get in touch early, we can remove you from the assignment without penalty, and this will not count against you since the change was outside of your control.
